Originally designed by Eric Avar and introduced back in 2008, Nike Basketball‘s Hyperdunk changed the game thanks to its bold, futuristic look, lightweight construction, and backing from the Black Mamba himself. Now, for the latest evolution in the series, Nike and designer Peter Fogg introduce the Hyperdunk 2013. Culling inspiration from Fogg’s ACG and running designs like the Air Zoom Tallac, Air Terra Humara, Zoom Terra Sertig, Ashiko, and Structure Triax, this year’s edition of the Hyperdunk sees a rugged aesthetic that pairs will with its otherwise minimalist design – one that incorporates Hyperfuse construction, Dynamic Flywire support, and Lunarlon cushioning. According to Fogg:
Cleveland Cavaliers star point guard Kyrie Irving added “when I first put the new Hyperdunks on, I didn’t want to take them off. The performance was great and I feel like the shoe’s versatility benefits my game.” Look for the Nike Hyperdunk 2013 to make its global debut come July 20.
Less than two weeks before it retails the highly anticipated Air Jordan 5 Retro “Grape” on May 4 some seven years since it was last seen, Jordan Brand announces the release of an alternate version dubbed the “Black Grape.” Essentially turning what was white into a soft black nubuck, this retro drop still features the model’s signature icy blue outsole, ventilating side panels, oversized tongue, and a transparent lace-lock. Although it’s not an original ‘90s colorway, the “Black Grape” is already shaping up to rival the OG “Grape” release going down next month. Confirmed for June 1 availability, Jordan Brand’s Air Jordan 5 Retro “Black Grape” will retail for $160 USD.
Last seen in 2007?s Air Jordan 1 Retro “Old Love/New Love” pack, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Black Toe” is set to return this summer. The all-leather upper features the classic black toe box along with red heel panels and white on the top of the toe box, tongue and side panels. The “Black Toe’ also returns with official, and much desired, Nike Air branding. No word yet on a release date but expect these to drop sometime this summer.

The latest addition to Nike‘s Air Max 97 SP legacy comes in the form of a new quickstrike release this month. This time, the legendary silhouette has been re-appropriated in “Italian Camouflage,” adopting an on-point military aesthetic. Here we find the Air Max 97 SP with darkened camouflage laid under the wave-like paneling along the upper portion of the shoe. Of course, no Air Max would be complete without the time-tested and approved Nike Air cushioning, ensuring comfort no matter the situation. An olive heel tab and matching laces complete the subtle details of the shoe, which is available at retailers such as Slam Jam.
